Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi announced that the 14th government's policy is to direct electricity toward productive economic activities, emphasizing that supplying power to industries is a key priority for GDP growth.
Speaking at the inauguration of electricity industry projects, Aliabadi stated: "Energy and electricity must generate GDP for the country and serve productive activities. The policy is that electricity should be consumed for productive work. Although we faced some limitations this year, our goal was to supply industries with greater seriousness."
He confirmed that a comprehensive plan exists to meet industrial needs for economic development, but stressed that achieving this requires significant investment. "We must have a sound economy to attract the necessary capital," he added.
Aliabadi described water and electricity as the "infrastructure of infrastructures," noting that development follows when these are secured. He highlighted the link between energy and industrial revolutions, stating: "The fourth industrial revolution demands massive electricity consumption, especially for information processing. We must prepare now for future energy needs."
The minister also emphasized small-scale power generation, recalling the late Imam's vision that "every house should have its own power plant." He added that new technologies will enable extensive expansion of electricity capacity.
On water, he noted ongoing efforts in desalination and called on the public to consume wisely, saying: "In the water sector, our hands are toward the sky and our gaze is toward the people."
Aliabadi expressed confidence in Iran's energy capabilities, citing 38 years of teaching experience in the field. "Today, we have built the most advanced machines in the world under siege and pressure," he said, referencing Iran's historical achievements, including the construction of the Suez Canal 2,000 years ago.
He praised electricity industry workers for their dedication, especially during enemy attacks: "My colleagues remained at their posts while missiles struck, not stopping until power was restored."
Concluding, the minister reaffirmed that Iran has the capacity for progress and will continue on its path of development despite external pressures.
